The UK government plans to impose a tax on vaping products and more details of the law are expected in March. . With this law it’s expected an increase of the prices of vaping products by 25% at least. The government has said it wants to encourage traditional smokers to switch to vaping, meanwhile discouraging non smokers, especially young people and children, to start vape. Currently the traditional smoke is 3 times more expensive than electronic smoke, a research estimates that the average smoker could save over 600£ on a year if they switch only on vaping.
Portugal has issued the parliamentary decree that transposes the EU directive on the revocation of certain exemptions for heated tobacco products. The new law provides for the equalisation of electronic cigarettes to traditional tobacco. It would prohibit the sell and consume of tobacco in zones near the school, the gas station, and in partially covered places.
